Goderich Street Resurfacing project comes to an end

4 July 2025

Goderich Street in Port Elgin is open and ready to serve our residents and visitors one month ahead of schedule! This project is now substantially complete with a few touch ups to be completed over the coming weeks.

As part of the Ministry of Transportation’s (MTO) Connecting Links Program, funding was received in 2024 for rehabilitation work along Goderich Street between Concession 6 and Concession 10. This work included the resurfacing of the road and restoration of the historic brick intersections in downtown Port Elgin. To minimize future disruption, work was also undertaken to make improvements to aging water infrastructure under the downtown intersections and replace storm infrastructure on the South end of Town.

The Town of Saugeen Shores would like to extend a sincere thank you to businesses and residents for their patience and understanding throughout the Goderich Street Resurfacing project. We know that detours and disruptions can be frustrating but well worth it in the long run, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we worked to complete these important improvements.
