The High Street Reconstruction project, originally targeted for completion by the end of September, is now expected to be finalized in mid-October (weather dependent).

This revised schedule is the result of several contributing factors, including:

• Additional work to address deficiencies in the existing water infrastructure.

• Supply chain challenges affecting the delivery of interlocking brick.

• Extra work needed to fix several basement coal chute window openings.

• Weather-related impacts (rain days).

We sincerely appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as the project team continues working to deliver a safe, durable, and high-quality result.

This week, the Contractor will be pouring curb on the north side of High Street between Grosvenor Street and Albert Street. Base asphalt paving in this area is anticipated by early next week. Once the asphalt is in place, the Contractor will begin forming and installing sidewalk within the boulevard on the north side.

On the south side of High Street, crews will continue placing interlocking brick within the boulevard, working eastward toward Victoria Street.

A half-block section of parking has now been reinstated on the south side between Grosvenor Street and Albert Street. Additional parking on this block will be restored as interlocking brick work is completed. Please note that parking spaces on the south side between Albert Street and Victoria Street may be temporarily unavailable as landscaping crews progress with brick installation.

As the project gets closer to the finish line, here's what's been done so far:

• Underground storm infrastructure was installed from Albert St to Victoria St.

• Road base and first layer of asphalt were completed on south side from Grosvenor St to Victoria St, as well as on north side between Albert St and Victoria St.

• Curbs have been installed along south side from Grosvenor St to Victoria St, as well as north side between Albert St and Victoria St.

• Sidewalks have been installed along south side from Grosvenor St to Victoria St, as well as north side between Albert St and Victoria St.

• Interlock brick placement has occurred on south side between Grosvenor St. and Albert St.

• Road granular base has been placed on north side between Grosvenor St. and Albert St.
