Project Overview

The Town of Saugeen Shores is scheduled to construct a new section of Ridge Street in 2026, extending from Frances Street in the north to Bruce Road 25 in the south.

The project scope includes the installation and replacement of storm infrastructure, new asphalt pavement and curbs, and the construction of a multi-use path connecting the existing northern section of Ridge Street to Bruce Road 25. Tree planting will also be undertaken as part of the work.

The project also includes the construction of a single-lane mini roundabout at the intersection of Ridge Street and Bruce Road 25, aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing safety for all road users. The detailed design has been completed, and construction is anticipated to commence in early spring 2026.

This project is partially funded through the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing (HECS) stream of the Provincial Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP).

What to Expect

  • Construction is expected to take approximately three months, weather permitting.
  • Work will generally occur Monday to Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with no construction on weekends, outside daylight hours, or during statutory holidays.

Phase 1

Beginning early March, the Contractor will mobilize to start Phase 1 of Ridge Street Reconstruction Project.

The phase will consist of the following works:

Ridge Street (Frances St. – Bruce Road 25)

  • The installation of gravity sanitary sewer, watermain, and storm drainage infrastructure
  • The installation of road base, asphalt, & curbs
  • The installation of street lighting and the construction of a multi-use trail

Phase 2

Phase 2 consists of the roadworks for a mini roundabout, in addition to the replacement and installation of storm infrastructure at the intersection of Bruce Road 25 and Ridge Street.
