Project Overview
The Town is beginning a study to determine the ideal levels of service for our community when it comes to maintaining, repairing, and replacing municipal assets. This includes infrastructure such as roads, bridges, underground water/waste water services, and facilities, as well as vehicles and equipment. This project will help the Town plan for the future and aligns with the scheduled Asset Management Plan (AMP) requirements as outlined under Ontario Regulation 588/17.
The Town is working to develop metrics for proposed levels of service and the strategic plan to reach those goals. This process includes consultation with residents, and consideration of additional important factors such as climate change, growth, and increased costs.
Asset Management (AM) is the process of maintaining assets in the most cost-effective way. The key objectives are to:

- Provide Sustainable Service Delivery
An Asset Management Plan (AMP) is a useful tool for identifying long-term infrastructure requirements and plan how to manage those requirements today. Municipalities are responsible for ensuring infrastructure is planned, built and maintained in a sustainable way.
The Town of Saugeen Shores AMP:
- Provides staff and Council information to guide sustainable infrastructure investment decisions
- Meets requirements of Ontario Regulation 588/17
- Considers all assets owned by the Town including Core (engineered) and Non-core (general service) assets

Levels of Service refers to how the Town maintains, repairs, and replaces its core and non-core assets.
The current levels of service for these assets were determined in the 2024 Asset Management Plan. The next step is to determine if these levels of service are meeting the expectations and needs of the community.
