Southampton Highway 21 Resurfacing Update

Wondering how the Southampton Highway 21 Resurfacing project is progressing? Here is a snapshot of the work being done and what's happing next.

Current and Completed Work

The project is moving along. Here's what's been happening so far:

  • Work on the municipal water system is progressing well.
    • Valve replacements are now complete.
    • Valve box replacements south of Zgaa-biig-ni-gan Bridge are now complete.
  • The contractor is continuing sidewalk work at downtown Southampton intersections and will replace concrete panels with tactile plates to improve accessibility for people with vision loss.

What's Next?

Here's what will be happening next:

  • Sections of concrete curb replacements south of Zgaa-biig-ni-gan Bridge.
  • Milling of existing asphalt surface is expected in the next two weeks with paving taking place shortly after.
